The Prezioso String Quartet was formed in 2005 by four musicians, studying at the Estonian Academy of Theatre and Music in Tallinn where Prof. Henry-David Varema coaches the quartet. The quartet has participated in several master classes including one given by The Petersen Quartet (Germany). Next to their occupation as a quartet, all four musicians are members of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. Among the many distinctions the quartet won in 2006 the First Prize in EATM Classic Competition and in 2008 they reached the finals of the Con Brio Festival-Competition in Tallinn, where the quartet received numerous special prizes as well as many new concert offers, including a concert at the Estonian Concert Hall. The quartet has performed in collaboration with Finnish pianist Antti Siirala at the David Oistrakh Festival in Pärnu. Last year, in 2009, at the invitation of the International Holland Music Session, Prezioso made its debut in the Netherlands.
